Books are for people who wish they were somewhere else (Mark Twain).  I do read to escape but not to escape from where I am.  I read to escape my thoughts and feelings.  I like to keep my mind occupied so doubts, fears, worries, and bad memories don’t creep in.  I read to escape stress, boredom, and anxiety.  Some people keep themselves busy physically as a coping strategy.  I keep myself mentally busy whether it is by reading, writing, surfing the internet, or playing computer games.  This is why nights are so difficult and sleep eludes me.  When it’s time for sleep then I either keep myself awake by thinking or I keep myself awake reading so I don’t think!  (written 12/3/17 for
