Marriage is built on trust and respect, and when that’s gone, it’s like sticking dynamite under the foundation of a house and expecting it to go on standing (Carolyn Brown).  Trust and respect are necessary for any good relationship (not just marriage).  When trust is breached, the relationship is damaged.  Although the damage can be repaired, the scar will always be there.  If respect is not present, the relationship was never really strong in the first place.  It’s impossible to have a real relationship if either of the parties disrespect each other.  A lack of respect can neither be repaired or overcome.
