A man’s possessions own him more than he owns them (Sigrid Undset).  It is possible to be tied down by the things you own.  If you aren’t careful you may find yourself building your life around your material goods.  The more you own, the more difficult it is to be mobile and free.  Things have to be taken care of.  You have to worry about it breaking or being stolen.  There is insurance, taxes, and maintenance.  The more you have the more you want. It’s a bottomless pit.  Try down sizing and minimizing the things you have.  Get down to what you need and a few of the things you want. You don’t always have to get the biggest and the best.  You can buy used.  You can rent.  When you find your anxiety centering around possessions it may be time to rethink what you accumulate.  This goes for money as well.  Spend one year not wanting things, not purchasing things, and spending as little money as you can get by with.  You may find your creativity blossoming and your enjoyment of your time increasing.  Give it a try.
