It’s easy to dwell on the past–especially the unpleasant past.  Try not to focus on the bad things of the past unless it’s with the purpose of learning something you can use in the present.  The past can be a dark, dreadful place–full of awful memories, mistakes and regrets.  It’s easy to slip into a dark hole that’s hard to climb out of.  Thinking too much on the past negatives can lead to depression or worse.  It can ruin your ability to enjoy or even be present in the here and now.  If my mind is caught up in the past then it’s hard to see what’s going on in the present.  In the process I miss out on my actual life by agonizing over the past.  It’s hard to walk forward while at the same time looking backward.  DW 1/2/17
