You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. (Zig Ziglar).  We all have to start somewhere and we will never accomplish much (if anything) if we sit around and wait for great things to find us.  It does require initiative on our part to get something good going in our lives.  So many times we sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, comparing ourselves to others and wondering why we don’t have the success others seem to have.  Yet we don’t recognize that those others who have great things and, indeed, are great people, took action, failed, and took action again (over and over).  If we want to achieve something, anything, we do need to take steps toward that goal.  Very seldom will someone seek us out, knock on our door and offer us a real opportunity to succeed and do great things.  The person knocking on our door is the one succeeding and moving toward greatness.  They have a goal and have gotten up and out to pursue it.  Those of us sitting on our sofas are not likely to move past mediocrity.
