We all have regrets. Some of them keep us up at night. Others haunt us during the day. At the very least our regrets harass us and remind us we are not so great after all. They keep us humble. They motivate us to keep trying. We are encouraged to do better, be better. While regrets are–regrettable–they do not define us. We are not defined by our mistakes, our worst decisions or our most awful moments. We can learn from our regrets and not let them control us. We can never forget–lest the lesson be lost–yet we do not have to wallow in self-pity or shame.
