For every lost opportunity or failure to act we can always come up with a good excuse. It’s easy to explain away why our life is not the way we want it to be. That’s great if you are satisfied with things being exactly the way they are now. No matter what our circumstances are there are things we can do to make things better or at least develop a sense of peace and contentment regardless. I can hear the uproar already. “You don’t know what I’ve been through.” “You don’t know how bad I have it.” This is true. I don’t know what’s going on with you. I do know what’s going on with me. I also know countless examples of individuals who not only survived horrific experiences but also rose above it and took charge of themselves. At the very least we can change our attitude and demeanor. The choice is ours. We can continue making excuses or we can begin to make changes. As for me, I am going to change what I can when I can. When I can’t change something then I will cope with or without grace and poise. I will survive and I will find what pleasure, satisfaction and meaning I can out of my life each and every day. I will not allow circumstances to dictate to me how I feel and what I do.
